Day 9

Another beautiful day. Walked the neighborhood right after the kids went to school. Easier that way. Ran quite a bit of it. Not jogged - ran. Whoot!

Day 8

I may need to re-think "every day." Perhaps I should aim for 1000 minutes this month.

Not that I didn't have time today, I just spent it sewing.

Day 7

I guess this is my first missed day. Unless you count shopping as exercise. If that's the case, add in 2 hours.

Weather continues to be wonderful - was 76 today. Supposed to cool a bit this week (mid 50's), but still very nice.

Day 5

Quick out today - just through the neighborhood. Pushed myself a bit and ran up the hills. Weather cooperated again today. Tomorrow's supposed to be in the mid 70's. Not bad for November...

November 3

Needed to go to the post office, so used the errand to go for a walk at English Landing Park. It's a nice park with a 2 mile loop and a 1 mile loop. The first half was brisk and into the wind, the second I had to wind to my back and got plenty warm.

Today: 30 minutes
Total for the month: 95

November 2nd

30 minutes through the neighborhood. It was a bit brisk and windy, but the sun was out. It's supposed to be nice this whole week.

Couldn't find a nearby 5k turkey trot for Thanksgiving, so my sister and I are going to hold our own. It will be very unofficial - no shirt, no entry fee, just a quick run around the reclaimed gravel quarry.

Today: 30 minutes

November 1st, or Day One

As many realize, it's NaBloPoMo time - or National Blog Posting Month.

I'm going to up the ante, and not only blog about my walk/jog/running, but do it every day this month.

So here it goes. Today I took the kids to a local nature park and we hiked around a bit - thirty five minutes to be exact. They had a great time examining the leaves and scampering around, and we all enjoyed the 75 sunny degrees. There's a trail or two we didn't check out, and the kids are looking forward to going back.

One down, twenty nine to go.

Tuesday - Walk

40 minutes
Master's Short Course

Called my sister.
Looking for a Turkey Trot around our hometown.

Thinking of a half marathon in the spring.

Felt good to get out there.

With a whimper, not a bang

I usually begin my new training regiments with a BANG! The race and training all ready to go. Not so much this time - it was more of a whimper.

Sunday I witnessed my sister complete her first half-marathon. She trained really hard, usually taking her three kids in a three seat jog stroller for most of her walks - except the very longest. I am so terribly proud of her. She set her mind to it and did it.

She asked me to do it with her. I said Yes. I didn't. For that, I feel terrible. As she was finishing the final 1oo yards no one could deny the sheer joy on her face.

The only thing I could think was that I was on the wrong side of the barrier. I should have been there and I wasn't only for sheer lazyness.

...

Today I started training. For what, I'm not sure yet. The kids had a teacher inservice day, so we went to my new walking trail and did about a mile. Then the kids played at the park. It was a beautiful day.

My birthday.

The best is yet to come.

At least that's what I keep telling myself on this halfway-to-seventy birthday.

It's all good.
